About This Point of Interest
Located in the Music and Speech Center, Wright-Curtis Theatre is a 225-seat theatre that has capabilities for a variety of productions. Those capabilities — movable seating, flexible traps and a catwalk system — allow for multiple vertical levels and acting areas. The theatre was named for Earle E. Curtis and G. Harry Wright. Curtis was a faculty member in the theatre department in 1946. Wright started in 1935 as a faculty member in the College of Theatre and director of dramatic activities. The theatre opened in the fall of 1980 with two plays: the Runaways and School for Scoundrels.
